This Saturday's Money MOT features the football-loving Stevens family from Norfolk. Terry, Debra, Lucy and Simon, are buying a second home in Portugal. This has nothing to do with a love of FC Porto - they are Arsenal supporters, but they are hoping to use it as a holiday retreat for at least six weeks of the year, and then let friends and colleagues stay at other times. Terry has had a nightmare finding lenders that do not charge the earth for arranging overseas mortgages. He is also unsure about whether to add the loan to his existing mortgage on their UK home, or take out a separate deal.
